It is a bad idea to put a Data Center in an area where there is no Fiber Optics. Also when choosing a Data Center it should be Tier 1.

Thanks for sharing - we recently upgraded and overhauled our UPS, taking note of their recommended lifetime of service. We posted a few recommendations and best practices for anyone looking to make the transition.

We find the medium to large companies prefer to use a facility fairly close to their main IT base. This makes site and technical visits much easier. Smaller companies are more price conscious and do not always have the IT back up the medium and large companies have, therefore will opt for a fully managed set up which could be a considerable distance from their central office in order to get a cheaper price.

We find this sensation all the time. One of the advantages of working in a data centre in the summer is that is often the coolest place in the office. Sometimes in the winter this can feel really cold, but I think we acclimatise too quickly to the nice warm office environment so when we go from one room to another you notice the cooler environment immediately. The reality is that the temperature will be roughly the same throughout the year, it’s not the air conditioning playing up more than our body system.

We have experienced exactly the same issues. Like most things in IT, certain aspects are ‘current and fashionable’ which at the moment Cloud is one of these. I can’t see this terminology changing so we are stuck with interrupting what the user actually requires for the foreseeable future.

Cooling towers are an essential element in any large scale industrial activity recently. Due to the growing need of cooling towers around the world and in India in particular, many companies have been set up to meet the demand of such towers in various industrial applications.

Centrifugal Humidification is great, but you do have to pay attention to water treatment. We initially ran a 10 micron media water filter, but that was not enough. We were getting significant powdery build-up from the mist vapor. We need to switch to a 1 micron media water filter, and that greatly reduced the powdery build-up.

It looks like the Navy Yard may have already claimed its first victim... Tasty Cake. Tasty Cake was persuaded that the Navy Yard was the place to be, so they moved their operations there. Of course, they ran into major issues with the construction of the new bakery since the Navy Yard grounds are so terrible. All that money wasted, and now they're in debt. I guarantee you that in a year or so, Philadelphia Technology Park will be out of business as well.
